Metal Braces

For many decades, metal braces have been straightening teeth and correcting bite issues in millions of mouths. Although there are new options in braces, including clear or invisible braces, metal braces are considered the traditional, most reliable and time-tested option. While clear braces have limitations on correcting more severe misalignment issues, metal braces can be used to treat most orthodontic conditions. At Milton Dental Specialists, we offer metal or traditional braces for our patients, as well as other orthodontic treatments options.

What are Traditional Braces?

While traditional or metal braces have been used for many years, they have evolved with technology. The metal braces used today use small metal brackets that are glued to the front of the teeth instead of the old-fashioned bands that used to wrap around the entire tooth. The small brackets are attached to each other with small elastic ligatures or wires, depending on the patient. Since teens are often the age group that receives braces, there are colorful ligature and ornate bracket options that can make the braces more attractive.

Traditional braces tend to be more affordable than some of the other brace options, making them the right choice for many families. If you or your child may need braces, you need an orthodontist that can help you find the right orthodontic treatment to correct your smile and fit your budget. Our experienced orthodontist, Dr. Patel, will perform a thorough examination to determine what options are available to straighten and align the teeth, including traditional or metal braces.
